Steve Fee set for Lit Conference Session 3

We thought we would give you a sneak peak at some of the artist and speakers that will be with us at Lit 08. Scroll below and you will see Zach Hunter, another fellow Lit artist that we wrote about. I met Steve back in 2005 and let me say it was no ordinary meeting. If you have time I would like to share a quick story. My assumptions are if you are actually reading this you have plenty of time, so I will go forward with my Steve Fee story. It was September of 2005. I was in the hotel room getting ready to speak at what I knew was going to be a huge event. The coordinator had rented the 1,200-seat school auditorium and Steve Fee was on the line up and then I was set to speak. I was extremely nervous (as always) because of the 1,200 potential people and the fact I was on stage with the great Steve Fee. We made it to the event, met Steve and sat back stage with him as show time approached. To our surprise, show time rolled around and we both looked out of the curtain to see 5 students! Do you know how massive an auditorium of 1,200 looks when only 5 people show up? It was every event coordinators worst nightmare. It was a result of some unfortunate planning but there just happened to be a homecoming dance in the gym, which was right beside the auditorium. I joke about it, but in between Steve sets you could hear Sir Mix a Lot playing from the homecoming dance next door, while the 5 radical Christians remained faithful with us. (HA) Steve approached me with a question, “What do we do?” I pondered the question. Before I could get an answer he responded to his own question, “can we take them to the Waffle House?” Sounded like a brilliant idea to me, so we both approached the event coordinator but before we could get it out, He thought it was best to move on with the already scheduled event. So, with 5 people Steve got up and played as if there were 1,200 present. I wish I could tell you I had an epiphany. I would say with a preacher voice, “It’s because He was not playing for the 5 but for the 1.” (HA) I am good at that… Unfortunately, it was an awkward night for the both of us but I was greatly encouraged by the humanity of Steve and his passion to lead 5 students to worship, even if it was at the Waffle House. We never made it to the Waffle House but we did make it with the band to Cheddars. It didn’t take two minutes of conversation to realize this guy “gets it”. I am excited to have him be a part. Be sure to pick up his latest work, “Burn for you” which just so happens to fit the Lit theme really well. Love you Steve, and our team is praying for you as Lit Conference 08 approaches.
